I am a complete gaming nerd when it comes to board games and video games. I love to explore my city while roller skating around town; in fact, I played roller derby when I first started teaching! My partner in crime is my loveable wrinkly, naked cat (Sphynx) named Archibald, or Archie for short. I also enjoy - maybe a little too much - signing up for informative math webinars to learn about the most up-to-date information in education and share my experiences with others around the country.
Surprisingly, math was my weakest subject when it came to state tests—but I found joy learning about math concepts and how they applied to the real world. I got into teaching because I wanted to share the beauty of the subject and change the stereotype of what students think math is. I strive to give a breadth of life to math and show students how interactive and important it can be past high school. Having a student realize their potential and experience the thought of "Oh, I can do math and it's not that bad!" is what pushes me to become a better educator.
I love being a Remind coach because of the relationships I can build with students who I might never meet in person. I get to share my passion and encourage even more students to excel in math! I also enjoy the exposure to math curricula in different states. This allows me to be a more versatile educator and even learn from my students!

I am a nurturing and passionate math teacher originally from the coastal city of La Ceiba, Honduras. Outside of my school job, I like to tutor and coach mathematics. I'm an avid sports fan, especially baseball, basketball, soccer, football, tennis, and golf. I have been described as jovial, smiling, helpful, sensitive, and hard-working, and I’m always trying to help others and within my community.
I teach because I'm a firm believer in second chances. Even though I was academically gifted as a student, I made bad choices because I thought that "I owned the world"—but my parents, brothers, and sister were always there supporting me until I decided to change. I want to make a positive impact on students by helping them succeed academically and become good citizens in their communities. Even though I have a degree in industrial engineering, I decided to go into education in order to give back what I was able to get: a second chance.
I love being a Remind tutor because it's like I'm teaching after school in a one-to-one session. I’ve always enjoyed working with others like this, even when I was helping out my peers as a student. As a tutor, I get to help students build confidence and progress in academics, as well as see them grow on a daily basis.
